It’s September, the traditional “Back to School” month in the States, which
follows Labor Day, the last official holiday of summer. The Dog Days are behind us
(left behind in “Timeline” terms), and in front (right in front, perhaps) of us is the
season we know as fall. (And we know what comes after that, don’t we....)
The BIG News
This is going to be a pivotal month for SCS. Debra will be spending most of the month in
Thailand, working on a new book, Stories from My Heart, which will be published
first in Thailand, with the hope that a world-wide release will soon follow. Debra expects
to have both e-mail and Skype capabilities while she is in Thailand, but telephone access
will be limited because of the high cost of International calls.
Joel will be in Kalamazoo working on the revision of Healing with Energy: Promoting Health and
Well-Being the Natural Way our comprehensive manual for mastering the skills of
Energy Medicine. Another important task will be the recreation of a program for online
instruction in Neurolinguistic Programming, Energy Medicine, and Developing Intuition.

SCS has added certification in Reiki to our list of possible workshops. We started in June 2010
with two days of training covering the key aspects of the history of Reiki and the fundamentals of
“hands-on” healing, including the similarities between Reiki and other common
forms of Energy-based healing, such as Healing Touch™, Therapeutic Touch™, and
Qigong. Participants learned the first three Reiki symbols and received the First-
and Second-Degree attunements. Additional training is required for certification as a
Reiki Master. See Earn Certification

Changes in Our Training Schedule
We will be on hiatus until Debra has returned from Thailand. Our first offering after her
return will be the Reiki origianlly scheduled for September. We will now be offering that class
on 15 and 16 October (Friday and Saturday). Space is limited, so let Debra know you will be

We are also planning to add a low-cost, comprehensive introduction to NLP for those
who want to know more. The low-cost program is an experiment, so it may truly be a "once in
a lifetime opportunity." Although the program is truly comprehensive, some additional training
will be required for certification through Richard
Bandler and The Society of NLP. See the SCS Training Schdule

Online Instruction in NLP Has Sputtered and Stalled
We are still planning to have an online instruction program for NLP, Energy
Medicine, and the Intuitive Process. Twice now we have had the NLP program set up and
ready to go when the software were were using, Moodle
fizzled out on us. We are currently seeking outside help to get the program back up and
running, but—even if the experts get it restarted—we are probably going to find and
install different software to help ensure that we can avoid a third fizzle.
Meanwhile, if you are ready to begin or continue your study of NLP,
let Debra know. We will
put your on our “regular updates” list so that you can take advantage of
the convenience of online instruction.
Are You Ready for Video-based Instruction?
We’ve been experimenting with video conferencing using Skype. We haven’t
settled on Skype for Web-based instruction, but it is a good system for one-on-one
video conferencing. We'd be glad for the opportunity to expand our experiment to include a few of
you who would be interested in using video conferencing to discuss NLP, Energy
Medicine, or the intuitive process.
